Good evening! It is Sunday night, X Factor is on TV (I don't think I really care about any of the final 5 although if I'm honest I think it's definitely time Lloyd left. Isn't it?) and I'm here tapping away a little blog entry.
This is preparation for my presentation to the Arts Marketing Association's Digital Marketing Day tomorrow afternoon. I'm pretty excited as this is my first big London gig at Sadler's Wells no less. Anyway, if you're reading this on Monday after I've spoken, I hope it was useful!
So, here are the videos I'm going to need for the presentation, plus a few more bits and pieces that you might find useful.

VIDEO TWO
And some other bits and pieces for you:

And a couple more videos for you:
EDIT: Wed 2 December
CJ from PCM Creative qik'd my presentation, which you can view here if you have a spare 43mins. Always slightly cringy to watch yourself back, so I won't be viewing it in too much detail although was pleased with how it all went on Monday!

Shift Happens 2.0

Ironically, this isn't another post about our recent earthquake here in Melbourne! I've been invited by Pilot Theatre to be one of the speakers at this year's Shift Happens conference in York (29 to 30 June).
Marcus, Pilot's Artistic Director, has asked me to provide people with an insight into the ways we're using social media tools here at Hoipolloi.
I've started creating some video diaries of my experiences, which I'll eventually edit together for the conference itself. I thought I'd share these here so that you can get a sense in 'real-time' how everything's fitting together. Although I have to admit that I'm a bit behind myself because I made this first one before I left for Australia and I've already made a second one, which I'll post early next week.
To book your place at the actual event, visit www.shift-happens.co.uk for more info. And thanks to Eurleif for the image.

Become a groupie!
Posted by Simon Bedford (Marketing and Touring Manager, Hoipolloi)
Good evening, ladies and gentleman blog readers. It's been a little while since I posted on here as I've handed you over to the very capable hands of my assistant David (and as he's got a first in English from Cambridge University he's far more qualified to entertain you with witty wordplay than I am!).
It's been a hectic week for everyone here at Hoipolloi.
The Doubtful Guest has been running at Cambridge Arts Theatre since Wednesday (and with three performances left, you haven't missed your opportunity to see it here just yet!). And as its our home town, we've been busy making new friends and entertaining guests.
Anyway, my reason for posting is to alert you to a brand new tool on the blog - your opportunity to become a Hoipolloi groupie! By signing up (using the link on the right-hand side), you'll be able to follow this blog closely and be automatically updated when we put up a new posting.
And this isn't the only way you can follow our activites! Why not click here to sign-up to the free Hoipolloi mailing list to receive regular emails from us or join either the Hoipolloi facebook group or the Hugh Hughes Appreciation Society.
Wishing you a fantastic weekend!

Hoipolloi elsewhere on the web...
Posted by David Ralfe (Marketing & Admin. Assistant, Hoipolloi)
I've just given our MySpace page a long overdue update and created a Hoipolloi Facebook Group to complement the Hugh Hughes Appreciation Society.
If you'd like to join either of the groups or add us as a friend on MySpace please feel free to click the links above. (It'd be great if you could write on the Facebook wall too, at the moment it's depressingly bare!)
Don't forget that you can subscribe to this Blog by clicking on the menu to the right. And if you haven't done so already, have a look at our YouTube channel for video previews of The Doubtful Guest and interviews and backstage footage with Hugh Hughes.

The end of the Rabbit run...
Posted by Sara Green (Marketing and Admin Assistant, Hoipolloi)
After a crazy couple of months, the first tour of Hugh Hughes’ second hit Story of a Rabbit has come to an end. But what an ending it was! With a two week run at the Barbican’s Pit Theatre as part of bite08 the show went out with a bang, impressing audiences and critics alike and generating a fantastic response each night.
As well as being excited about performing in such a prestigious venue, Hugh and Aled were pleased to see so many old faces return to see the show as well as welcoming the new connections they made in London. It was definitely the perfect way to end a hugely successful tour and the ridiculously busy season we have had at Hoipolloi.
The show has really grown over the past few months, becoming increasingly funny and, believe it or not, more moving every time I see it. I think this was confirmed by the raucous laughter followed by thoughtful silences that I witnessed in the theatre last week and the queues of tearful women in the toilets afterwards, including me, hastily reapplying mascara proves my point.
One of our favourite responses to the show was posted at the Hugh Hughes Appreciation Society on Facebook
“Possibly the only show I have ever been to where my friend came out with tears of laughter and I came out with tears of sadness. Truly remarkable.”
But if now you are getting upset at the prospect of not seeing a Hoipolloi show again, fear not.
We are currently finalising the autumn tour of The Doubtful Guest, not to mention a host of international dates for Hugh Hughes that will be announced in the next few weeks. So put those hankies away and save them for Story of a Rabbit’s return, you’ll need ’em!
And for those who want an extra dose of Hugh, here's one of his videos to enjoy! To find more, why not visit our YouTube channel.
